I'm at work until lunchtime today, and then home to finish packing and head off to the in-laws'.  It still sounds weird to talk about going to my father-in-law's house.  This is my first Christmas away from home, so it should be an experience.  I'm a little sad to be away from my family, but this was inevitable at some point, and I'm excited to experience my wife's family Christmas.  It promises to be more hectic than mine.

That said, don't expect much posting until I get back next week.  I'll have computer access there, but I don't expect to use it very often.  And without my stored passwords, I may forget how to login here to post anything.  But I imagine most of you will be similarly busy with family and holiday celebrations and just not being at work.

So, happy holidays, whichever holidays it may be that you do or don't celebrate.

Our first married Christmas,

Our first married Christmas, we still did it separately. In retrospect, I don't think I'd do it again, but alternating holidays still isn't the easiest thing to do. I didn't see my parents do it, because their families were 50 miles apart. Ours are 3,000.

Christmas is the only time

Christmas is the only time her family is all together anymore, while my family is all within an hour of our house. So it makes sense to go to her family's for Christmas. But I don't want to give up Christmas at my family's. So it's going to take some figuring, I guess.

I didn't want to do our first married Christmas apart. Our second married Christmas, who knows. And then when kids come along, it gets even more complicated.

When there are two kids, you

When there are two kids, you have your own family and you don't have to go anywhere. At least, that was how it worked in my family.

Safe travels, and happy holidays to you and the wife.
